Nowadays, the role of time and every moment in general, is of great importance, whether it concerns our personal life, our work, our relationships, or our social everyday life.

It becomes even clearer that the right time to do something is a critical factor of success or failure in what we do. Today, even moments and seconds are crucial and essential, especially when it comes to difficult events, such as driving a car at high speed or landing an airplane.

Of similar importance in our lives, is every moment we have to or should not do something. The right moment guarantees success. The wrong moment guarantees failure. And of course, Christ does not make a philosophical lesson in his seventh chapter of John’s Gospel about the value of the right time, but He gives lessons for an effective daily and eternal life.

Even the reason given, at an appropriate time is effective, and at the wrong time it has no effect.

Christ did not make theoretical conversations, but tried, through daily sceneries, familiar situations and proverbs circulating in the society then, to bring the message of an effective daily and eternal life.

He used the word “door” to describe Himself, meaning the entrance and the exit door for the lord of the herd and the sheep, to teach His uniqueness, not only as a Savior and guardian, but also as a guide to an effective, rich and meaningful life. Nowadays, through the use of electronic doors in the shops and airports we all use, we can understand better the role of Christ as the entry and exit door for effective daily routine and life.

We could say that this woman from Samaria represents all modern women who have spiritual pursuits and concerns.

She has a strong personality, she is independent, she doesn’t care about her social background, she puts her personal life above public criticism, but she also has pursuits. She is a woman who has advanced a lot in the search of spiritual issues, seeking God and redemption not only for her daily routine but also for eternal life.

Christ reveals in this woman secrets that until that moment He hadn’t reveal to either his disciples or his close associates, which shows that God is not a person and does not overestimate racial origin and national history beyond its true value, but sets faith and truth above all else.

There is widespread opinion among our patriots that the issues of faith concern exclusively the Church’s officers. And we all of course understand that this can not be right.

Because in our time, where the majority of the population knows how to read and write, speaks foreign languages, knows how to handle specialized technical tools even for personal use, knows how to communicate with millions of foreigners and acquaintances around the world, the view that the everyday person is not obliged to address the issues of faith and the life of faith, it is an out-of-season and out-of-reason view.

The layman, that is, the non-clerical man, is not excluded. On the contrary, normal, everyday people are preferable, judging by the fact that Christ Himself did not choose any religious person of his time as a student of faith, as a student of the new Law he has brought and applied to mankind.

On the contrary, for this new kind of relationship with God, Christ chose everyday people, professional people, wives, with the only criterion being  their spiritual pursuits, with the only criterion being their craving to come closer to God.

And this must be a matter of concern to us. So do not hesitate to make the decision and start looking for your rights in matters of faith. This is because faith is the tool that transforms our lives and our everyday life, regardless of our education or our social and economic situation.
