After 2000 years, it is obvious that Arios Pagos is a symbol; a symbol of strong content and lasting, eternal character and meaning. For the Greeks, Arios Pagos may be a place in the center of Athens, next to the Acropolis and the Temple of Hephaestus, but for all of humanity it remains a symbol of special importance, that must be understood. The meeting of two civilizations, Jewish and Ancient Hellenic, did not take place in Arios Pagos with the visit of the apostle Paul. It is known that Jewish people and Jewish Synagogues already existed in Athens, and therefore one culture knew the existence of the other and coexisted.

The new element that Apostle Paul brought on that day to Arios Pagos was not the Jewish religion, but the resurrection of Christ, and the power that raised Jesus. This was the message, not the replacement of Ancient Greek religion with the Jewish one.

The new wine made by apostle Paul in Arios Pagos was not intended to turn the Greek people into Jews, to repeat what they had done in their own past, but was intended to bring the personal and highly individual element of repentance to the center of every human being . An element that would contribute to the renewal of the perspective of life and not to the destruction of the past.

The position of Arios Pagos is between the Acropolis and Thissio, in the center of Athens, in one of the most famous places in the world, because that is where a meeting took place, which is known to have influenced human history, as far as we know it.

In Arios Pagos, the apostle Paul met the spirit of ancient Greece, a spirit that was cultivating its thought and the search for the truth for centuries. The time was not accidental, because the conditions were mature for a substantial change in the religious practice of the ancient Greeks, who continued to sacrifice animals to the gods of Olympus.

The message that Apostle Paul brought on that day to Arios Pagos was the message of resurrection, not as a philosophical parameter, but as a practice of releasing power that relieves people of the fear of death.

Although the ancient Greeks knew and cultivated to a high degree the thought from which measurable results are produced in everyday life, however, the dimension of the resurrection and the power that caused it was outside of their own agenda, precisely because it presupposes the existence and cultivation of faith to a god who does not have needs, but has the supplies, his gifts to his creations for the temporary earthly but also the eternal afterlife.

What is happening today is called current events and relates to the time, the weather, and the events taking place at a specific time.

It is obvious that what is happening now affects us and concerns us all, because at the same time we experience the events from our own point of view. Because we all have to deal with not only the past, but also the present, today, the current events with their current content and not the ideal ones for us, that is, what we would like. And we are not only called to deal with all this, but also to overcome the obstacles it brings in our own personal life, winning the expectations.

Our struggle, therefore, must not be with ghosts of the past or fantasies of the future, but with the actuality of today and its actual content. A proper understanding of the current events is the safest condition for a good solution, a successful solution to any problems that concern my personal point of view, my own personal interest. And the strengthening of my inner world is intended to prepare my own antibodies to address the issues and accept the results of my action.

Olympic Games 2017

Obviously, in 2017 there were no Olympic Games since they took place in 2016 and will be resumed in 2020. However, athletes taking part in 2020 have already begun preparing, training and competing with the other athletes for the final selection.

So every day is a day of the Olympic Games for those athletes who seek to take part and win the Olympic title. There is no one in the world who does not know the Olympic Games and no one is naive and stupid to think that the athletes’ successes on the day of the races are random and autonomous wonders.

We all know that without hard daily preparation, not only the Olympic title will not exist, but even participation in the competitions cannot exist.

Only with great day-to-day preparation and competition will the great dreams come true.

God’s help comes only when the man has exhausted their personal strength and the final judgment for the winner is expected.

Neither people, much less God, crown idleness and indifference.

The struggle for living faith is of greater value than the Olympic prize because it not only guarantees the present, it also leads us on the path of life after death. So the preparation must be proportional to the value of the prize.

Olympic Games

The dream and the vision of each athlete is to take part in the Olympic Games.

However, we all know that these games do not happen every day, but every four years. But we all know or at least suspect that athletes do not appear for the first time on the day of the Olympic Games, but every day they work really hard, there’s hard preparation and hard daily competition to get the highest point and claim a seat in the pantheon of the Olympic Games.

And this lesson is of great value to people of faith because if every athlete trains daily and competes with others to reach their high goal, to have world recognition, then it is even more important for my inner person to prepare and practice daily, since the inner person contributes not only in the quality improvement of everyday life, but also leads to high goals, beyond death.

The daily exercise and practice of my internal abilities is the first prerequisite for avoiding mistakes and omissions from which reluctance and indifference originate. On the contrary, daily exercise brings renewal to my interests, brings the sense of truth closer to my own reality and yields rich fruits for the general good of people.
